The Trefler Family Tradition:
When my husband's grandfather, Abraham Trefler, started a business building
and repairing furniture in Germany in 1921, he never could have imagined the
Trefler & Sons of today.
Abraham's son, Eric,
was one of the few fortunate survivors of the camps of Poland and Germany.
In 1948, he left Europe for New York and then Boston. Here, after working
as a furniture restorer for antique dealers on Beacon Street, he built
on the expertise learned from Abraham, and soon became renowned for his
uncanny ability to restore almost any type of art object. Eric developed
his own secret formulas and techniques for the invisible restoration of
porcelain and ceramics.
I am proud that Trefler & Sons has grown into an international institution
with perhaps the world's finest private conservation staff. We hope to have
the opportunity to give you an estimate for repairing your favorite objects.
